IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS – INITIATING FREE TUITION CENTRES IN 5 COMMUNITIES

The atmosphere in their homes is hardly conducive to study or do their homework. The parents have only limited education, if not illiterate. There are other social issues like drunkenness, poverty, TV addiction, conflicts at home and distraction by unemployed youth in the village. Therefore there is a need to provide these children an avenue to study and complete their day to day home work at a place close to their homes.

• 5 tuition centres have been established : Manjakkudi, Kodavasal, Pudukudi, Sengalipuram and Palur to cater to the needs of 6th/7th/8th students in and around that village.
• Each center accommodates around 25 to 30 students and is managed by a trained teacher
• Timing is between 6 pm and 8 pm on all week days and it is extended to Saturdays during examinations.
